Tonight at the REDCAT at 7pm, be a part of one artist's dream!

From January 13th, through January 18th, 2011, the REDCAT (Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater) is hosting L.A.'s first contemporary dance competitive event titled, The A.W.A.R.D. Show! The Artists With Audience's Responding to Dance Show, presented by New York’s Joyce Theater Foundation comes to Los Angeles to feature contemporary choreography by regional dance artists, granting $10,000 to the most successful work with the help of an audience vote. The A.W.A.R.D Show! seeks to serve as a much needed dialogue between the dance community and its artists.

So far, the show has featured renowned regional choreographers including: Rachael Lincoln and Leslie Seiters / Lean-to-Productions, Arianne MacBean, Barak Marshall / BODYTRAFFIC, Christine Suarez, Maria Gillespie / Oni Dance, Pam Gonzales / Pam Gonzales Dance, Holly Johnston / Ledges and Bones, Bradley Michaud / Method Contemporary Dance, Randé Dorn / Randé Dorn Dance Company, Victoria Marks, Karen Schaffman with Liam Clancy, Eric Geiger and Leslie Seiters, and Meg Wolfe. Each night, four different dance artists presented their work. Following each performance  a Q&A occured between the audience, judges, and artists. Then, voting took place, and one choreographer was selected to progress to the final day, culminating today, Sunday, January 16th, 2011 at 7pm.

Tonight the $10,000 grant will be awarded to one of the following finalists: Barak Marshall / BODYTRAFFIC, Holly Johnston / Ledges and Bones, or Victoria Marks. The two runners up will recieve $1,000 each.
Tickets are only $18 and can be purchased at the REDCAT box office at 213-237-2800
